Asked by: tourajam

Dear Experts,

About 3 days i have problem, i dont know how this problem happened to me.

http://i19.tinypic.com/8b5vk7l.jpg

My system :
P4 2.4, 512 mb of ram, and Windows XP pro ( sp2 )

What i done before :
1 ) I Scan my system with my up 2 date anti virus and i didnt find any Viruses.
2 ) i Checked my system with Ad-Aware 2k7, and i didnt find any Spyware.
3 ) i tried with some other vpn to see maybe its problem of my VPN, but i see all of my tested vpn have same problem

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Touraj

http://www.pidgin.im/

"Pidgin is a multi-protocol Instant Messaging client that allows you to use all of your IM accounts at once."

Give that a try, and see if you're still having the CPU problems.   Have a happy new year!

When it is happening - goto the task manager and process list.. then sort by CPU usage and let us know the exact name of the process that is using all the CPU please..

Sorry my bad.. I skim read it... my apologies - no idea why yahoo messenger could be doing that - I'd ask Yahoo support

If using Pidgin fixes it, then it's a problem w/ Yahoo Messenger.  Don't think there's any settings or anything that you can do to tinker with it with regards your issue.  You can contact Yahoo to see if they can reproduce the problem and fix it in the next version.  Or maybe try an older version of Yahoo Messenger?

One last thing that I can recommend is maybe close (signoff) Yahoo Messenger first, then start VPN, and then start Messenger again.  ....not sure if you try that already or not.

By the way, I wasn't aware that New Year was tied to any particular religion.  But hope you have a great day anyways, and best of luck on this problem w/ Yahoo messenger.

I would start by uninstalling, rebooting, and reinstalling Yahoo IM.....

By far the simplest thing to try first.....

However, if that doesnt work, we need to get deeper....

In the Task manager, select View>Select Columns, and add the Virtual Memory Size tab. Please upload a new .jpg with that column visible....

Next....

Process Explorer for Windows v10.21
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/ProcessExplorer.mspx

Double click "yahoomessenger.exe", and then Select the Threads tab, and see what .exe or .dll is using the CPU, and then select it by double clicking it....and copying/pasting the call stack here.....

Just for giggles, I would be curious to see is the Interupts, and the DPC's in Process Explorer.

What VPN Client are you using?

Have you updated your NIC drivers?
