I am looking for a better alternative to Yahoo Messenger, Skype, and Windows Live Messenger, etc. Although these services work good most of the time, the web cam freeze up and quality is undesirable at times. I host a few web sites so I have server space available to me if there is something I can use via this platform.

Thanks for your response I just started looking at Openfire. Just a few quick questions, I see where I can have chat (IM) sessions, can I also do video (Cam)? I hope this program is easier to set up then it looks at first glance. I have very little knowledge about setting something like this up on my hosting service.

After looking over Openfire more (and plugin Spark or Red5) I believe this is what I am looking for. I setup a MYSQL database on my hosting service (HostMonster). From here on I am clueless as to getting this up and running. What I really need is very simple step-by-step instructions on setting this up. I would also be willing to pay a reason price for someone who can do this for me also. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

easy enough to follow, including the mysql bits (but I used to be a linux admin, so it's ok for me)
But with all linux install, follow the steps word for word and put any error messages you get into google (or EE) and someone else will have seen and fixed the problem.
