I'm appearing 'offline' to my contacts, but I'm definitely 'online' on my end.
I'm appearing offline to my contacts on google chat. This occurs on Chrome, Trillian, Pidgin, and the Android Hangout app.
According to my status in Gmail, and on Trillian I am online, so there shouldn't be any reason for me to appear offline.
I am not blocked by them in google plus, and we've attempted to clear the cache and cookies with no success.
Let me know if you need any other information.

Check your sync settings to ensure Google is syncing your status with the other programs.
