The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Need Merak Mail Antispam configuration help. We're getting TONS of SPAM.

Asked by tplaya07 in Anti-Spam Email Software, Email Software, Email Servers

Tags: , ,

We have about 70 email accounts and only 1 domain. We are running Merak Mail version 9.2.1 on a Dell PowerEdge with XP Pro.  I am the Network Administrator, but I do not have much experience with configuring AntiSpam settings/filters on mail servers. Spam is getting out of control for many users, some receiving as much as 50-75 junk emails per hour. I have dabbled with the settings a little on Merak, I've read numerous articles about configuration and watched the configuration video that Merak put out a while back....but nothing seems to have made much of a difference.

I have attached a couple of the configuration files, and am willing to provide screenshots of my configuration or any other info, if necessary. I am at wits end trying to adjust these filters to a reasonable level that doesn't impede good/valid mail from getting through. Also, we are a Non-profit organization, so please don't suggest external filters that we would have to purchase.

One more thing...not sure if it's helpful or not, but we do also use AVG AntiVirus Network Edition (currently still on version 7.5) which has an AntiSpam option. I believe this is a client-side filter (Outlook 2003), but not sure. And at the moment, it is disabled. However, if you think this would be a better alternative, I'd be more than willing to use that instead/or along-side Merak's.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Also, I am willing to provide my email address or phone number (assuming that this is allowed on EE??) if someone thought it might be easier to guide me that way. Thank you.
