HOW TO EMAIL A REPORT PRINT FILE FROM AS/400

I am new to the AS/400. I was asked in work to write a COBOL program to create a print detail report and summary. Now they want a PDF file that can be emailed. Is it possible to convert a print file to PDF and then email it? If so, could this be an automated process? Step-by-step instructions would be a real help, if possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
