Question

Change the Sent from address on e-mail from Outlook to any of the accounts setup.

Asked by: 911bob

This is a weird one.. but it is real...

I have a client who has many different e-mail addresses he wants to send and recieve. (76 to be exact) The receiving is OK as they are all POP3 accounts, and Outlook can put them into the correct folder by a rule when they are received..

The hard part.. and maybe impossible.. is to be able to select the from address as he is sending or replying to an e-mail..

By default Outlook will put the default e-mail account address as the from. He wants to be able to select any one fo the 76 as the from..

The closest I can see is if he changes the Default (under Option.. e-mail account...change.. and then select the new default.. but this is a lot of steps..

He used to have each seup as individual profiles.. but you can appreciate the to open and close Outlook 76 times is a bit crazy..

He does have NEO to help organize the mail.. but his root problem is that he need to be able to select the from address as he sends e-mail.. Is this possible with Outlook 2003, or any other mail client?

I've never found a way to do this in Outlook, but using Mozilla Thunderbird (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/thunderbird/) you are able to select which account you'd like to use to send the e-mail when you compose the message.  I imagine it can handle 76 accounts, but I've never tried! :-P

The downside to Thunderbird is that it doesn't accurately mimic 100% of the functionality of Outlook, so some messages from Outlook users like meeting requests might come through messed up.

Greetings 911bob !

In Outlook, disable Word as editor. Go to Tools > Options > Mail Format tab. On that screen uncheck "Use Microsoft Word to edit e-mail messages".

Now that Word is no longer working with Outlook, create a new message or reply to a message After clicking on New to compose a message goto the menu and click on View and then make sure the line that says "From Field" is checked. (You might have to click the little arrows on the bottom to show all the options in the View menu) Now you can change the from fields entry to whatever e-mail address you want.

Best wishes, war1
