Browse All TopicsI have read the existing questions that refer to this error but our problem is a little different.
One of my colleagues, an Australian resident, is working in India. He has been able to access the internet from hotel networks around the globe until a couple of days ago when, in India, he found he could receive but not send email and he received the error message 550.5.7.1. It appears as if the error message is issued by our ISP's SMTP srver with a typical one being as follows.
"MAIL FROM:<Cooper@Broadleaf.com
This began with no apparent changes being made to the laptop being used. The ISP claimed it meant that the SMTP address setting had to be changed to suit the local provider but the email had been workng fine till then.
Since then my colleague has attempted to use a friend's PC card that connects through the Reliance cell network (Indian GSM network), which has worked on previous trips, and has received the same error message.
Other points of interest:
- Emails can be received as normal
- Webmail works fine

Has to be a client configuration issue. Your ISP has either changed its authentication requirements or allowed IP addresses. Can you configure another PC with another users information and see if you get the same result?
