Check your proxy settings for starters.

Also in advanced options make SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 are selected.

Clear your cookies and tempory internet files will also help with these types of problems.

Another way is you try to use forget password option. Then it will send you a new password or reset password to you another email account which you provided when you sign up yahoo account.

Clearing cookies and temp files did not work
I cannot even open mail.yahoo.com

Is thatweb secure ? The account has a precious password ... Is it safe to give it on that site ?

by: sunnycoderPosted on 2004-05-06 at 02:30:51ID: 11003857

problem resolved on its own ... why or how, I have no idea
I did not even try anything new !!!

Can someone throw some light on possible causes

by: rsdnPosted on 2004-05-06 at 02:35:37ID: 11003883

I don't know about thatweb, whether it is secure or not, but just an alternation to check email. Like bad time friend :)

Now your yahoo account is working, may two possible reason :

1. sometime happen with yahoo server or service
2. you put the wrong password ( when we baffle we put the same wrong password again and again :) )

It cannot be wrong password ... Page never opened !!!

It was giving "Cannot display page" error ... same page was accessible through a colleagues system and I could access all other sites fine so it was not a network settings issue either

I own an internet service shop where most of my guests use webmail like yahoo. This is my experience for your reference in case you cope with such problem again:

The problem is sometimes the main page mail.yahoo.com becomes overloaded due to many users access at the same time. The best way is to change to other Yahoo Official Page in other countries like:

http://mail.yahoo.co.uk
http://mail.yahoo.ca
http://cn.mail.yahoo.com
http://mail.yahoo.fr

etc
Hope this helps

I meant if you can not access Yahoo Mail at server mail.yahoo.com at certain time, you can temporarily access through other server I mentioned above, then you can try the previous serve later on.

Good luck

I have seen people experiencing this problem. And I could never confidently say what exactly was the issue. But using the route del and then route to the specific IPs that the proxy had used to reslove the problem. I havent read the whole thread. SOrry if that idea has already been given here.

If you have an Internet proxy, then your IP address was temporarily blocked.

Click on that link and a window would come up to ask you to SAVE or OPEN, click on OPEN and you would see another window and at the bottom right hand side you would see a space that says MTU..you have to put 1492, then on the left side of that where it says adapter settings make you have the correct adapter selected, then clink on save and then exit and reboot your PC and tried one more time to access your hotmail and yahoo account and let us know..

I have same problem since today morning,
can access address book, notepad, anything, but the mail.
I was thinking it is DNS problem and tried to use IP instead of mail.yahoo.com, that took me to login page, but doesn't let login.
I really need to access it, because I have to finish my work today and the files are in my account.
