The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Problem with windows xp smtp engine?

Asked by teched1000 in Email Clients

Hi there,

I am using windows xp sp2 I am trying to use the internal smtp engine to send office coleages email.

Now we normally send email out throught our ISP smtp engine (mail.ISP.net) and our email accounts pop3 accounts are held on our ISP server. We download from there server to our email clients (outlook).

Now the problem is that our domain name is the same as our email address. For example my computer is called mycomputer.companyname.com and my email address is myname@companyname.com.

As a result when I try to send a email to someone in our office through the internal windows smtp engine looks around see's the domain name of the network and the domain name on the email are the same and trys to send the email directly to a computer. The result is that the email never leaves my computer e.g. never leaves our network/internet gateway.

I know this because my symantec scans every email coming into and going out of my computer and I do not get a pop up saying the email has been scanned when I send an email addressed to people in the company.

I have checked, and these emails stay in the queue folder (C:\Inetpub\mailroot\Queue) and then after about 10 minutes move into the badmail folder.

I have tried entering a Masuerade domain and changing the domain name. But still the email will not be sent. I have entered the my ISP smtp server address in the  Smart host. But it still does not send it.

Does anyone know of a work around for this?

Or have some suggestions.

TIA

Eddy
