Hi ewang1205,

The smtp server depends of your isp or mail server.

What's your isp ?

Don't know the isp.  Is there a way to find the smtp server name through My outlook or a doc command?

by: war1Posted on 2006-01-19 at 08:49:07ID: 15740225

Greetings, ewang1205 !

Ask your ISP tech support for the server name.  Typical SMTP server name is mail.domain.com or smtp.domain.com.  Replace domain.com with your ISP or mail service.

Best wishes!

ewang1205,

> Is there a way to find the smtp server name through My outlook

If you enter your smtp server in Outlook, you should know it.  Go to Accounts Settings. Highlight your ISP. Go to Server tab.  You should see your SMTP server name there.

I may be confused there.  This is a company mail server and we use exchange server.  Is that different from smtp mail server?  When I check the email address in the outlook address book, I see xxx@abc.abc.com  and it says smtp server.

by: MiguelSilvestrePosted on 2006-01-19 at 09:08:46ID: 15740392

Hi ewang1205,

If your company uses a exchange server it's possible you don't need the smtp server ... contact the network admin to have that settings.

But if it was a smtp server it's probably like war1 says, something like: smtp.abc.com or mail.abc.com

In your mail client there should be an outgoing server mentioned somewhere. What does this entry say?
You really should be able to ask your network admin about this.
