How can I use a graphic signature that is consistent across email clients.

Tags: AOL email
Ive been writing my email with AOL and I often insert a graphic signature (tif), which other people on AOL can see with no difficulty.
However, I heard that strange things happen if I send email, with my image file, to non-AOL computers. Sometimes the signature covers most of the page, etc.
Is there a format that would work for all email clients and on all computers? Any other ideas?
I am using a PC and Windows XP.

Thanks for your help.
