Mshtml.dll crashes in outlook 2003

I keep getting crashes in outlook 2003 running on XP SP3 (and IE8) as detailed in the event viewer:

Faulting application outlook.exe, version 11.0.8312.0, stamp 4a403990, faulting module mshtml.dll, version 8.0.6001.18828, stamp 4a98e1f3, debug? 0, fault address 0x000031d5.

Event ID: 1000
