Secure/Encrypt IMAP in Exchange 2003

The Expert ATIG said in a previous question that you can use the same SSL than your OWA server to access IMAP.
Where do you enable IMAP front or end server?  Do you have specific set of instructions?  Do I need to open port 993 on my firewall?

I am looking for the best and easiest way to access email from our Exchange 2003 to a Palm Treo 700p.
