Items in sent folder not visible or retrievable

Tags: thunderbird, folder, sent, items
On a clients computer, they are using the latest version of Thunderbird. The items that the client sends are not showing up in the 'sent' folder. Under the properties of the local folder, In the subsection; copies and folders, There is a checkmark in the 'Place a copy in' option and the selection for where to save it is "Sent" folder on local folders. This installation is completely local to this machine.

If I send a message, there is no indication that it has saved the message.

If I right click the 'sent' folder and do a search, it will find the message in the search box. If I use the search box to open the message, the message is blank. That's true for any message found in the search box.

I have rebuilt the index on that folder and it gave no error messages while rebuilding.

I'm out of ideas. Any help with this would be appreciated.

Regards,

Bill

The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Bill, thanks and glad it's working.

Can I make one quick suggestion, though?

War1 was right on when he mentioned "filtered view", he was just mistaken on what was being filtered.  If this were my question, I would consider doing a split between us, seeing as how he pointed us in the general direction but I aimed the gun and hollered "Fire".

If you are interested, you can see this FAQ about splitting points and reopening questions.

If not, at least consider it in the future.  We are all here to help.

Thanks again.
