e-mail recipients can not open my .doc attachments

Asked by atguerra in Thunderbird Email Client, Email Clients, Microsoft Word

Tags: Microsoft, Word, 2003, Installed behind a firewall, Word experienced an error trying to open the file.

when emailing a word document  (.doc or .rtf ) some email recipients (not all) report problems opening the attachment.

the error received opening the word document is:

Word experienced an error trying to open the file.
Try these suggestions.
"      Check the file permission for the document or the drive.
"      Make sure there is sufficient free memory and disk space.
"      Open the file with Text Recovery converter.

the strange thing is that no all recipients are experiencing any errors opening the attachments.

I am Thunderbird  to send the emails. My version of Office is 2003.

We have tried opening as "Open and Repair" as well as "Recover Text"  Nothing works.  If we save the attachment and open in Notepad it opens but all of the text is converted into strange characters and boxes.

I have attached a .doc file which was e-mailed and can not be opened.

my thanks in advance.Start Free Trial
