Mozilla thunderbird email back up?

I need to "extract" all my emails from a damaged partition, i want all the structure i have (with folders, filters, etc...) How can i retrieve them??

When i used Outlook express i used to copy and paste certain folder from the old partition to the new one and all the emails (read and unread) folders etc... would show up just like in the old OS, there was no need to do any special thing

How can i do this now that i have been using in this other partition the Mozilla thunderbird email client???
