Thunderbird now takes up up to 99% of CPU resources and just crawls so slowly that I can't even compose an email. If I click on an email to read it, there's at least a 10-15 second wait until it really is selected. It can take a full minute for the cursor to appear when I try to compose a new email, and then another 30 seconds for a character to appear on the screen after I type it!
Upon starting Thunderbird, it begins by using 27 meg of RAM. I think it doesn't start increasing until I start clicking or typing or it starts checking for email. Then the CPU usage jumps up to 98-99% and memory usage climbs up to 70-80 meg. I haven't installed any add-ons. I use Kaspersky anti-virus and Zone Alarm firewall. Win2kpro. What's going on?
I don't know if this is related, but there are 4 instances of svchost.exe running. That might be new.
