I have a laptop computer running Windows XP, a second computer running Windows Vista which dual boots with Ubuntu Hardy Heron. I installed Thunderbird into the Hardy Heron operating system but I continued to get the following message:
"Thunderbird is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Thunderbird process, or restart your system."
I tried to follow some of the how to advice. I found on the Internet to no avail.
Just to perform an experiment in order to see if I had some sort of conflict on the Windows Vista computer, I then took an old third computer and installed the Hardy Heron operating system, performed updates, and on this computer I installed Thunderbird. I copied over a profile xxxxxxx.default from the Windows XP installation into the .mozilla-thunderbird folder. I did absolutely nothing else on this clean installation of Hardy Heron. I got the same error message again.
This problem appears to be intrinsic to the Hardy Heron operating system. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
