Thunderbird - use contacts as address book

Until recently, the "address book" in Thunderbird displayed all of my "contacts."  Now the address book displays the 6 items that are in the address book.  The only way I can get to my contacts is when I am composing an email.  From here I can select them to add them to my email.  I would really like to be able to access my contacts so I can see all the information they hold.
