Sent folder in Thunderbird not working
For some reason over the past few days, whenever I try to access my sent folder in Mozilla Thunderbird version 3.0.4, I am able to access everything normally however when I select the sent folder I simply get the wizard menu which normally loads at startup -- the one that lets you read messages set filters, etc.
What's unusual is that in the title Thunderbird states you're in the sent folder on that screen, however when you click read messages it jumps to your inbox.
Occasionally I'm able to access my sent folder but none of my messages from the past few days appear so I'm not sure what's going on.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Hi Tolomir,
Thanks for the prompt response. I tried both fixes mentioned on the site -- compacting the folder and doing a reindex, and also recreating the account however the compacting didn't solve the screen issue and when it came to creating a cloned account, I was able to copy all my folders except the sent directory.
Would you happen to know of any other fixes?

why couldn't you clone that sent folder, what is happening?
Maybe a chkdsk c: /f needed?
Is it possible your Antivirus has quarantined your sent folder or an email in the Sent folder, which may have Locked the file from access?
Save a backup copy of all your messages, reinstall the client and try again.
Steps:
Messages' location:
[Windows_Inst_Drive]:\User s\[Usename ]\AppData\ Roaming\Th underbird\ Profiles\[ Random_cha racters]\M ail
You will find all your accounts there, including all your folders and messages. Save them somewhere. Reinstall Thunderbird, copy all the saved files back.
Obs: The profile name will be different.

Thanks for the solutions everyone, however I still am out of luck.
I checked my AV and there's no issue with the quarentine and I also tried a copy of the entire mail database and reinstalling however that also has proven to be useless. For some reason it appears that Thunderbird is not regenerating the Sent.msf file for the account which is having the issues, but I"m not sure why that is.

Maybe deleting the profile and creating it again...

I tried deleting the profile and recreating it and that has helped as far as allowing me to send & recieve mail, but is there a way to restore my old structure? The way it is now, when Ioad Thunderbird, it does a dump of my email sever and I believe the old emails are either being mixed in the inbox (which is flooded with clear junk mail -- viagra, rolex, etc) so overall I still can't get my messages back to where they were.
I try to restore the profiles and create a new set, however that also does not yield results.

I just tried doing a restore of the old profile, splitting the sent directory into folders by year, and then doing a reindex however I'm still not able to have my sent emails saved.
Are there any other solutions?

Let's take it slow. Do you have the latest version of Thunderbird? Do you have any filters that are applied on your email address? What e-mail provider do you use? Can't you erase the whole profile, create it again and download the sent messages from the email provider?
I once had such an issue with imap. Thunderbird had a mismatch with the sent folder on the server.
I checked the properties of the send folder in thunderbird and compared the name on the server. No idea what went wrong here but after fixing the folder name I saw my mails again in the sent folder. (IMAP not pop3 issue!!)

I'm with you Tolomir. My thought was he's dealing with an IMAP server.
parajn, how are you accessing your Email server? And do you have the Account using the Local folders, or the mail account folders? Confirm in TB that you are viewing All Folders by going to View->Folders->All.
Are you looking at "Sent" folder or "Sent Items" folder?
You may also have to go to Tools->Account Settings->select yoru account->Copies and Folders
and confirm that you have set up properly 'When sending messages, automatically: Place a copy in:
and select the correct folder, which might be the IMAP Sent folder on the imap server.
Couple pages to look at here.
