How do I get Gcladaemon to access the LDAP server so THunderbired can access my gmail contacts?

I have Mozilla Thunderbird email client installed on my XP PC. I am trying to use GCALDaemon to access the contact list of my gmail account using the LDAP server.

I have been unsuccessful using the set instructions from http://gcaldaemon.sourceforge.net/usage4.html.
