Exchange 2003 server information store not responding

Looks like our server hits with My doom virus. I did scan clen utility for virus it found virus in queue. So I deleted queue and restart server and works fine.

but it happen again and outlok client not responding..hangs up..so i run CA's etrust antivirus again and found virus in queue again. and I end up doing cleaning queue and rebooting.

Why my etrust antivirus not deleteing bad queue even though I am running real time scan for incoming and outgoing files.

and why exchange server hangs up..

Are you using the exchange agent with your antivirus software, or just the desktop client software?

If you are using the exchange agent, which is a seperate software piece, it should find them at the server level, and do whatever you have configured it to do with it (rename, cure, delete, etc..)

If you are using the desktop client piece, then it will not clean it from the queue automatically.

At least that is my understanding of the software.

MS has several documents covering this. You should NOT have an AV file scanning your exchange directories or your M: drive(exchange 2k+). for Virus. You need to specifically run an Exchange AV agent/software for this or you WILL have issuesl.

Might I recomend Trend Micro's Scanmail for Exchange. They also have a nice plugin( Emanager) for SPAM mail.
