The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Unable to email externally from mobile devices. Message "550 5.7.1. Unable to relay for"

Asked by technomic in Email Software, Exchange Email Server, Microsoft Operating Systems

Dear Experts,

I have Exchange 2003, I'm able to e-mail internally and externally from my Outlook on the PC, I'm also able to send e-mail messages from my WM phone and Palm to internal users. However when I attempt to e-mail from my phone to an external contact, I receive the following message on WM device:
Invalid message recipients
Your message was not sent  and has been moved to the Drafts folder.
The following receipients are invalid: external e-mail address.

On the PALM, I receive the following message:
550 5.7.1. Unable to relay for "external e-mail address"
I'm able to receive mail on my WM device from external users, but only unable to send to external users.

From Exchange I went to Administrative Groups>Servers>Server>SMTP>Default SMTP Virtual Server then Properties>Access>Relay
"Only the list below" radio button was checked and I have Granted assigned to the IP address of the Exchange WebAccess Server
The box"Allow all computers which successfully authenticate to relay, regardless of the list above" is also checked.
I tried to Uncheck that box and then add myself manually by clicking on Users, but that didn't work either.
I also stopped Default SMTP Virtual Server and then started it again, but still no luck.

Please advise how to correct the issue. I know it has something to do with the Relay but unsure of what exactly left to do here...Start Free Trial
