The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

imap caching e-mail server

Asked by gsgi in Email Software, Outlook Groupware Software, Email Servers

i use mailtrust an outsourced e-mail provider - they use imap
 - for e-mail at a few of my clients.

many clients have e-mail on more than one computer.  say
e-mail is on their laptop and on their desktop for instance
like i mine is.

everytime one switches from laptop to desktop, all the e-mail must be
re-downloaded.  if there are large attachments, this takes time.

what I am looking for is imap server software that will keep the imap e-mail
for the company locally, by synchronizing with mailtrust.com ... then the
clients can synchronize to it.

right now when users log on to windows and boot up outlook, e-mail is
synched between mailtrust and that instance of outlook for that user.  this
can be slow.  also we use outlook in a citrix environment, so they could get
put on a server that hasn't had e-mail sync'ed with mailtrust in a while.

so to make it so that users get a much faster synchronization of their
e-mail once they start outlook from a locally help repository of e-mail and
likewise to speed up any citrix server that may need to download e-mail for
any user, I was wondering if there is software that can sit sort of like an
imap proxy -- hold kind of a local cache of the imap e-mail at mailtrust.com
for the domain to allow for fast local synchronization to laptops, desktops,
different servers running outlook.

thanks,
gsgi
