The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Outlook 2003 running in Cached Mode on Roaming Profile is not synchronizing

Asked by Dalton1981 in Email Software, Outlook Groupware Software

Hello, Thanks in advance for your help.

One user works 2 days in our Corporate Office, and the other 3 days from two different clients offices remotely using Citrix. The user runs Windows Xp sp2 in all locations - and when using citrix, its on a Server 2003 standard server.  I configured a roaming profile for her the following way.

\\fileserver\profles\username - contains the profile
\\fileserver\home\username - This contains her My Documents. I redirect MyDocs on the client PC and point it to this folder.

The .OST and Archive pst's are located in \\fileserver\home\username\mydocuments\outlook
outlook is configured to run in Cached mode.

The issue is when the user works in our Corporate Office, she gets new mail, sorts it, deletes it, organizes it the way she wants. When she logs out correctly and goes to work from our clients offices through our Citrix server using roaming profile. She see's all her documents, desktop exactly as she does in our corporate office. But all the emails she sorted, deleted or organized from there are lose in the Inbox and appear to have been untouched. She then has to re-trace her steps and do that again.

When she logs out correctly and comes back to corporate, its the same in reverse..

I'm having her test a few things right now to get more insight. 1st. while at Client Office #1 today, she made some changes while there, i had her log into Outlook Web Access and verify those changes were made on my Exchange Server. I will have her do the same at Client Office #2 this afternoon.  But aside from testing it, i am at a loss.

Additional Info: I gave the user full access on her own desktop while at corporate in case synchronizing was a permissions issue. But where the .OST is in the My Doc's and no matter where she logs on from that is always the same, it doesn't make sense why she see's her email differently at each location.

Has anyone else had this issue?
