The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Attachment Security Warning Office 2007 cannot open attachment, this file may contain a virus

Asked by 4RunnerBob in Outlook Groupware Software, Email Software, SBS Small Business Server

Environment:
Dell Vostro 1500 notebook, 2GB RAM, Intel Core2 Duo T7700@2.40Ghz processor
Windows XP Professional SP2
Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
Exchange Server 2003 (part of Windows Server 2003 SBS)
Automatic Updates turned off (user runs them manually)

Cannot open attachments in email messages.  For example, an email arrives in Outlook 2007 with an attachment named report.pdf, the user right clicks the attachment (within the email message), and has been able to open or preview the attachment until some time early in August.

Now, if the user right clicks the attachment and clicks "open", an error message titled "Attachment Security Warning" appears.  The full text of the error message is:

WARNING!
This file may contain a virus that can be harmful to your computer.  You must save this file to disk before it can be opened.  It is important to be VERY certain that this file is safe before you open it.

The filename and type are shown at the bottom of this error message, and the available choices (buttons) ar "Save to Disk" or "Cancel".

This problem is only on the laptop, and is not an Exchange issue. No changes have been made to the Exchange configuration for many months, and no other users are experiencing this problem.  If the user logs into a different computer, they are able to open the report.pdf file normally.
