I am trying to publish an FTP server through ISA 2006, both running on separate Windows Server 2003 boxes. I have followed the procedures that I have found for ISA 2004 (I can't find one specific to 2006, but they should be similar), but I am having a problem getting it to work. I can connect to the FTP server from the internal network and event the ISA server DOS ftp and IE, but when I try it from the external network, I get "connected to xx.xx.xx.xx" and then about a minute later, "Connection closed by remote host", but I never get a logon prompt.
In the ISA log, I get "Denied Connection" by the Default rule with the source network = External and the destination network = Local Host. It's acting like the publishing rule isn't even trying to forward the request to the FTP server. I have tried adding several other access rules to allow the traffic, but nothing seems to work.
Incidently, I don't know if this is relevant or not, but the FTP server is also the OWA server, which was successfully published through the same ISA. ISA is configured as an edge firewall behind a hardware firewall.
