The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

How to configure FTP for anonymous connections - ( currently not working )

Asked by John500 in Microsoft IIS Web Server, FTP Software, FTP Servers

Tags: IIS 6, FTP, ASP .NET

I have a simple web application which only should only do one thing at present - delete a file

The server and file name are hard coded into the routine as seen below in the snippet.  The picture on the left shows the Web app itself.  The picture on the right shows what I see when I just type in localhost.  If I try to enter the site manually it looks as though everything is ok.  However, the one and only folder that the Virtual Directory points to is not displayed.  It is not displayed even if click Page and then click Open FTP Site in Windows Explorer.  I end up with an empty Explorer window.

In regard to the program, I get the following error when it runs:
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).
Description: An unhandled exception occurred during the execution of the current web request. Please review the stack trace for more information about the error and where it originated in the code.

Exception Details: System.Net.WebException: The remote server returned an error: (550) File unavailable (e.g., file not found, no access).

Source Error:
Line 61:         myFtpWebRequest.Method = WebRequestMethods.Ftp.DeleteFile
Line 62:
Line 63:         myFtpWebResponse = myFtpWebRequest.GetResponse()
Line 64:
Line 65:         litResponse.Text = myFtpWebResponse.StatusDescription
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So it appears that using either method of access, I'm not getting in where the file resides.  What could be the issue with my IIS configuration.  I am definitely using Allow Anonymous Connections.

Any ideas ??
