XP Workstations on LAN can't connect to each other

I have two workstations on my home LAN. One has a printer attached to it, which is shared. Both are in the workgroup named WORKGROUP. The one with the printer also has several shared drives. The one without the printer can not map to these drives and can't see the printer.

What am I missing to make them talk to each other? I have no special security set that I know of. I donn't have this problem at work but we have servers and a domain there.
