Is the proxy server your are using free? Even then, you have not explained what type of proxy server it is. (Sock4, Sock 5, http, etc.) If you are looking to hide your ip address from other's while downloading/seeding torrents, try a vpn service like: https://www.relakks.com/?l
It will provide you with even more protection than the proxy server would, since it would encrypt all your traffic.
Ive had similar problems, uTorrent is very dependant on the firewall allowing ports open access to allow the P2P file sharing technology.
Go to Options and preferences within uTorrent and go to the connections tab, in there you should have a number for the port your using. I would suggest turning off the option of creating a different port everytime you open utorrent as this would require you opening a ton of ports on your firewall.
If your unsure how to open ports on your firewall, please refer to the manufacturers manual.
