You can use .tar.gz format (that winzip can decompress without problem) or the .zip format if you have installed it. For example:
tar zcvf package.with.all.the.files
or
zip package.with.all.the.files

How to zip files from LINUX SHELL
How do i Zip up folders from linux red hat shell? I have hundreds of folders to zip up and am clueless in linux! Helpppp. this stuff is on dedicated server at ipower and startx does not work.
