Windows error 1332: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done

I'm trying to configure WinSSHD on a Windows 2003 SE server (VM, externally hosted by an ISP). I thought I had configured everything correctly. I have a similar setup working on a local server. When I try to login I get the following error in the event log:

Logon attempt 1 for user name 'userx' with logon method 'password' failed: The supplied user name could not be looked up: User name matched to virtual account 'userx', but looking up the underlying Windows account '' failed: (Cached) First LookupAccountName() for 'serverxxx\yyyadmin' failed with the following error: Windows error 1332: No mapping between account names and security IDs was done.

I found an article at the MS site (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/285903), but that refers to startup. I'm not sure if I can do this safely. I found PowerUsers to be present in several local security policies. (Local Security Settings > Local policies > User rights assessment > ... (e.g. access this computer from the network). But I'm not sure whether I can remove those powerusers safely. (Which I won't do anyway without consulting the ISP, and I'm not sure that I even have the rights to do this.)

Thanks! I didn't think domain order would be necessary to specify, but even in the case of just one domain it is.
