I am trying to update the firmware from buffalow 1.05 to 1.05 with telnet access. I need to get the smb.comf file, so I can configure my 2nd server in a simlar fashion. The nas udpater that comes with any firmware I try to upload will NOT find my current terastation pro sever. I can access the server via the webgui configuration page. And I can access the samba shares via windows. Howerver, i cannot get the nas updater to find the server. It is running on our network. I have disabled xp firewall, however I cannot disable our network firewall. Please help with any and all vialble suggestions.
Have you tried to update to newer stock firmware? Then you could try to update newer stock firmware to telnet enabled firmware. To my recalling 1.05 is quite an old firmware.
