Browse All TopicsHi everyone.
I am able to correctly configure the public key authentification on my ssh server. This works fine.
However, the name of the private key must aboslutely be id_rsa to get it to work. My problem comes where the same user on the same computer will have access to multiple ssh servers all using public key authentification.
My question is : How to be able to rename id_rsa and still get that PubKey to work ?
My goal is : To be able to store multiple keys in the same folder for an ssh client.
Thank you.

Was reading through your question and am a bit confused. Are you saying the user needs multiple private and public keys?
Usually if I am wanting to log into servers x,y, and z from server a, I will generate the public and private key on server a. Then copy id_rsa.pub to servers x,y, and z by appending them to server x, y, and z .ssh/authorzied_keys[2] file.
Are you saying you want to generate multiple public keys, one for each server you want to log into? If so, I'm curious as to why it's required or necessary. I don't think you can do that.
