If the password is required to access a share, then you need to put username and password into script.

Here is excellent tutorial on how to setup a logon script:

Hold on... you said the Linux system is a Domain Controller (Samba PDC)... so the users who login on Domain Member PCs will be able to map drives automatically with the "net map" command noted above in the login script WITHOUT providing ADDITONAL authentication (They already established their IPC$ credentials when they logged into the domain!)

So... Step 1 is to create the login script... REMEMBER THAT THIS MUST BE A DOS-FORMATTED TEXT FILE (edit the file in Linux, but then convert it with "unix2dos")

Here's a sample login script:

--- Start Login.bat ---
@ECHO OFF
C:
set SERVER=server
set DOMAIN=domain

REM Synch system time to the server time
net time \\%SERVER%.%DOMAIN% /set /yes

REM Map home directory to U:
if exist u:\ GOTO ENDU
    net use u: \\%SERVER%.%DOMAIN%\%USERNAME% /persistent:no
        if %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 GOTO ENDU
            echo "There was an error connecting drive U:"
            pause "Press any key to continue..."
:ENDU

REM Map Public Share to P:
if exist p:\ goto ENDP
    net use p: \\%SERVER%.%DOMAIN%\Public /persistent:no
        if %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 0 GOTO ENDP
            echo "There was an error connecting drive P:"
            pause "Press any key to continue..."
:ENDP

:DONE
--- Stop Login.bat ---

Now my script above does 3 things:
 1) it syncs the client system's time to the server's time (see time server option in smb.conf)
 2) it maps the user's home share to a U: drive letter (see logon home option in smb.conf)
 3) it maps a "public" share to a P: drive letter

The next thing you'll do is put the file Login.bat into the netlogin share folder & tell samba to use that file when users login:
 1) convert the file to DOS (CR/LF) format
     unix2dos Login.bat
 2) Put the file into a netlogon folder (I use /etc/samba/netlogon) & allow ANYONE to read it
     mkdir -p /etc/samba/netlogon
     mv Login.bat /etc/samba/netlogon
     chmod 644 /etc/samba/netlogon/Login.bat
 3) Create a placeholder folder for roaming profiles (I use /home/samba)
     mkdir -p /home/samba/profiles
 3) Place the following entries into your smb.conf file (on my system, /etc/samba/smb.conf

--- Start excerpts from /etc/samba/smb.conf ---
[global]
        time server = Yes
        wins support = Yes
        dns proxy = Yes

        logon script = logon.bat
        logon path = \\%L\Profiles\%U
        logon drive = U:
        logon home = \\%L\%U

# Map the user's true (Linux) home directory (from /etc/passwd) to Windows %HOME%
# %U = the user's username
# %S = name of the current "service" (will be username)
# Limit access to the actual user -- done here in Samba & on POSIX folder access perms
[Homes]
        comment = %U Home Directory
        valid users = %S
        read only = No
        browseable = No

# Create a NetLogon share to house the login script(s)
[Netlogon]
        comment = Network Logon Service
        path = /etc/samba/netlogon
        guest ok = Yes
        locking = No

# Create the Profiles share needed to store Roaming Profiles
# NOTE: users folders are created automatically -- DO NOT pre-build their profile share folders!
[Profiles]
        comment = %U Profile
        path = /home/it4soho/admin/samba/Profiles
        read only = No
        profile acls = Yes

# Create the Public share that users will map commonly
[Public]
        comment = PUBLIC FILES
        path = /home/public
        guest ok = No
        writeable = Yes
        force create mode = 0766
        force directory mode = 2777
        force group = admins
--- End excerpts from /etc/samba/smb.conf ---

One final note -- all of these settings are based on "best practices" published in the official Samba documentation or the Oreilly Samba book.

Good luck!
