The Solution Rating System

  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. unable to set up remote file server access using webdav

Hi,

I need to set up remote access to our file server, so that when users are not in the offices, they can still access network shares.  VPN doesnt work sufficiently well, and i am trying to find another solution.  I had the idea of using webdav to accomplish this, so i installed it and allowed it and set the permissions.  I have set up a test directory on the file server, which maps to a virtual directory in IIS.  I am able to access this directory from the outside by going to www.domain.com/webdav in internet explorer, but i cannot map a network place to this address.  It comes up with an error, saying "The folder you have entered does not appear to be valid.  Please choose another."  What am i doing wrong?  Does anyone have any ideas?  IIS 6.0 is sitting on MS Windows Server 2003.
