32 bit client cannot connect to x64 WebDAV folder

I have Windows Server 2003 R2 x64 sharing a WebDAV folder.  My client computers, XP and Vista (both 32 bit), get the familiar "The folder is not valid" error.  I am running a virtual 2003 Server in 32 bit mode and have no problems connecting the machines to it.  I have looked at the Microsoft patches for the WebDAV client and they do not help.  Is there a reason that 32 bit clients cannot connect and is there some compatibility mode that can be activated?
