I administer a mail server for a huge social networing site and have full double opt-in for related email sends.
I now find myself being asked to send to segments of the membership, personalised emails which contain stuff which they may be interested in as well as content from the site. this means that I may in the very near future need to send up to 6 million emails a day. The mta in use is qmail, set up with two instances, one using a ram disk and the other a seperate drive for the queue.
Ok, so now my question, how can I increase my sending rate to anywhre near 400k / hour so that I will be able to achieve this requirement for work. I'm not sure what files people would want to see, but I can peovide if required.
I realise that this question is somewhat outside the remit of 'normal' experts-exchange questions but I really an finding outbound performance a big issue when you start getting in to big lists, for example one of the segments in question is 1.6 Million users, a big send by my measure.
Thanks in advance
