The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Configuration of Blat Stunnel and Gmail

Asked by clarcombe in Internet & Email Software, Email Software, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP)

I have a need to send an Email with an attachment from my home PC. However the only email account I have is Gmail.
I understood from research that I can use Stunnel with Blat to send a Gmail so I have issued the following commands. Note  < > are values which have been removed from this post for security purposes

I have configured stunnel.conf with the following values
----
; Alternatively you can use CRLfile
;CRLfile = crls.pem

; Some debugging stuff useful for troubleshooting
;debug = 7
;output = stunnel.log

; Use it for client mode
;client = yes

; Service-level configuration

[pop3s]
accept  = 995
connect = 110

[imaps]
accept  = 993
connect = 143

[smtp]
accept  = 465
connect = smtp.gmail.com:465
----
then run

stunnel.exe -install

I then ran
blat.exe -install smtp.gmail.com <myaccount>@gmail.com
blat.exe AutoBackup.bat -to <myaccount>@gmail.com -f <myaccount>@gmail.com -server 127.0.0.1 -port 25 -u <user> -pw <password>

However I get

Blat v2.6.2 w/GSS encryption (build : Feb 25 2007 12:06:19)

Error: Server refused connection.

Questions
Can stunnel still be used with gmail ?
Are there any alternatives to using my gmail account i.e. a pseudo smtp server software ?
