Main Topics
Browse All Topicsi have received emails (in hotmail) with .mht attachments. these used to be powerpoint slide shows with a .ppt or.pps extension, attached to the email. i can save them and open them in powerpoint or work, but the information appears to be html info, not the expected slide show. this is not specific to any machine type or os.
what caused these files to become .mhts? and, is there a simple way for a user to fix them?

And MHT is a single-page HTML file. It's usually used for archiving, but it's also a handy way to send a web-page-ish looking file to someone with all hte supporting files intact as one file (instead of an HTML file with a bunch of linked supporting files).
You can save a PPT file as an MHT file by choosing File | Save As and selecting "single file web page (*.MHT *.MHTML)" from the "save as type" dropdown list. I'm assuming the author of the presentation did this for some reason.
I'm not sure mine's the right answer here. You can open the MHT in PowerPoint and File | Save As to save as PPT again, but it seems like it really might be a hotmail issue since forwarding the mail to gmail turns the attachments back into PPT files.
I think you should give the points to hewittg or at least split the points between hewittg and me.
