Unable to sign into hotmail account through incredimail
Hello Everyone
I'm trying to set up my girlfriend's Hotmail account in incredimail and keep receiveing ERR authentication failed error.
I know that the username and password are correct since I have no problems signing in directly through Hotmail but when trying to create the account in incredimail I keep getting a username and password error.
Here's how the configurations are done:
Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com with port 995
Ougoing mail: smtp.live.com with port 25
Checkmarks in SSL for both
Any chance someone can advise on what to do next?
Thanks very much for any help!!!

Maybe you have to check your firewall, particularly if you are using a 3rd party one. Many AV suites today include firewalls (which I find totally useless, as the Windows built-in firewall does a good job itself). Besides that, also check the AV tool itself, many have separate settings for mail.

Solution was found by myself but still giving points for help provided....Thanks very much.
You should post the solution you found and and then accept that as the answer. That would help any others who have the same problem in the future.

This is the way I resolved my issue. Selected as "best solution".
For outgoing mail (smtp.live.com) use port 587, Connection security STARTTLS, and Authentication method NORMAL PASSWORD.
For incoming mail (pop3.live.com) 995 is the correct port, SSL/TLS the correct security, and Normal Password the Authentication method.
Also make the username is correct. It should be just like the email address, user@hotmail.com
Most good mail Clients use wizards to setup accounts, and those wizards usually are capable of automatically assign the correct settings, at least to the better known mail providers like hotmail, so you could also check whether your mail client has such options.
