The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Please do me a favor and rename HijackThis. You can name it anything you like, just keep the .exe part so it still runs. Then run again and attach the log using Attach File below.

Ok I have changed the exe for hijack this to Jacked.exe and attached the file as instructed, the reason I did the trend micro log was because I noticed that the preformance on my machine is very poor, and wanted to upload the info here. Th 17pholmes was on the machine before I put Hijack this on my pc for a log to be made. Ill try to be as clear as possible

Hi,
Doesn't look like it got renamed....this is from your latest log.

C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis\HijackThis.exe

Can you double check the renaming and make sure if you have more than one copy you rename the correct one.

SDFix will delete "17PHOLMES1535.EXE", you probably will also need combofix later because it's likely that vundo/conhook are also present.

http://danborg.org/spy/hjt/alternativ.exe <-- this is an already renamed hijackthis.exe that you can use if you like so we can check if vundo is present.

Download SDFix and save it to your desktop.
http://downloads.andymanchesta.com/RemovalTools/SDFix.zip

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :

* Restart your computer
* After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
*  Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
*  Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
*  Choose your usual account.

*  Open the extracted folder and double click "RunThis.bat" to start the script.
*  Type "Y" to begin the script.
*  It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
*  Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
*  Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
*  When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display "Finished", then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
*  Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file "Report.txt" back

>>>I cannot locat the SDfix in this archive,<<<

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean you can't locate SDFix.

Vundo/conhook infection also are now showing in your hijackthis log.
Combofix is the best tool in removing them.
Please download ComboFix by sUBs:
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe

You must download it to and run it from your Desktop
Now STOP all your monitoring programs (Antivirus/Antispyware, Guards and Shields) as they could easily interfere with ComboFix.
Double click combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
When finished, it will produce a log. Please save that log and attach it in your next reply along with a fresh HJT log
Re-enable all the programs that were disabled during the running of ComboFix..

Note:
Do not mouse-click combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

I downloaded sdfix.zip, I cannot locate the exe file's, I beleive you said in a post back, "  Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive% (Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix) I downloaded it in win rar, that could be the problem, however, should I just continue with combo fix

Okay, you downloaded SDFix.zip to your desktop, and after you extracted it ,you couldn't find the extracted folder --> C:\SDFix?

When I just doubleclick the SDFix.zip it opens within winrar, but if I rightclick on it and choose extract files, it gives me the option to where the extracted files should go.

Don't worry about it for now, you can just run Combofix first.

GEBCY.DLL Is the excessive threat on trend micro that is showing up on the network monitor. I will wait a little bit longer for a solution, However this is very important, and I dont want to rebuild my pc.

I see you're in a hurry here and rpg may be offline. We should be able to get this with a cfscript, but I have one question first. What is this?

C:\Program Files\GClient

Is this something that was knowingly installed? Let me know and while I'm waiting I'll put the rest of the script together.

OK scratch that last remark as it looks like an Internet Cafe program. Just not familiar with it.

Let's do this anyway....

1. Open Notepad.

2. Now copy/paste the text between the lines below into the Notepad window:

------------------------------------------------------------------------

File::
C:\WINDOWS\system32\gebcy.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\jkhhf.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\wbiiwpku.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\kxnnxkyb.dll
C:\WINDOWS\system32\nnnkkhg.dll

Registry::
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{2338f27d-c1f2-4582-876b-c62f2dcdb127}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{40AFA95A-E52D-49E2-ABFA-D8F011CC5642}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{4986C8B2-43FB-45C0-BF9E-40BD9A90AA10}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{70CB6D7B-352A-4209-B0CA-EEC411FCDF4D}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{7735F01C-3689-4659-B7E9-55EB9A876149}]
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\~\Browser Helper Objects\{E9383002-FC55-4330-B9C9-67E03BC5C840}]
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]
"BM933d738a"=-
"900e4016"=-
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows nt\currentversion\winlogon\notify\nnnkkhg]

------------------------------------------------------------------------

3. Save the above as CFScript.txt on your desktop.

4. Then drag the CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe. This will start ComboFix again.

5. After reboot, (in case it asks to reboot), please upload the following reports/logs.

-Combofix.txt
-A new HijackThis log
