The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. XP, heavily virus/spyware infected computer, no admin rights, won't run Spybot or SmitFraudFix even in Safe Mode

I have a client who gave me a heavily infected PC.  Had no protection while surfing.  Running Windows XP sp2, has AOL all over the computer like a fresh octopus (client wants to keep - go figure), lots of icons for "cleaning" programs.  Once booted up, can't do anything for all the warning messages and various programs popping up, and can't even shut down unless I take it down hard with the power button.

None of the accounts who are administrators have admin rights, including administrator account.  Booted into safe mode, ran ClamWinPortable off a usb drive, which found several trojans.  Tried to run Spybot S&D in safe mode, wouldn't even start up.  Still in safe mode, ran HijackThis to get a log and tried to run SmitFraudFix, but that also wouldn't start.

Would appreciate any help on this!
