The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. AOL Desktop Version 10.0 - How to Turn off "Welcome Screen" and "Buddy List"

I don't use the AOL Desktop program or browser so sorry I can't be specific.  From what I have read ver 9 didn't allow a way to disable at least the "Welcome Screen."  It couldn't be disabled in that version.

Is there an option for Preferences or Settings in the Desktop or browser program?  In AOL IM those can be disabled in Preferences.  I don't think it will be an option but was worth mentioning.  Let me know if you have a question about this.

I am wondering what type of connection you have to the Internet.  Also do you know that you can probably use another browser instead.  Unless you need one of the member services and/or use a dialup account to get the Internet you don't even need to use the AOL browser.  Just a suggestion.  Let me know if you want more info on this.

Sorry I can't provide more and it seems this isn't something the experts can speak on.  In all honesty AOL just isn't used much anymore.  It still provides Internet to some but most then often use other browsers.

Any post by anyone -- including the Asker -- after a close/delete request is made stops the automated process and forces the manual intervention of a moderator.  In this case, your comment canceled your request.

Before trying again, please note: do not close your question and accept your comment, as you had attempted to do.  The solution "no answer" is absolutely useless to the next person who finds this thread. Instead, please follow bolscott's advice, where he said to delete your question.

We will check back on this in a few days.

I don't see "never answered" as really feedback to my expert post.  I don't object to the delete since there was no answer.  My comment was meant more as a started to help an abandoned question so I am not surprised it wasn't enough to fully answer this but it would seem like more of a response is required for a refund.  Not really a strong objection though so I will be fine with whatever the moderator decides.  My main hope is the Asker will participate more in the future because it would've made a big difference here.
