I don't have access to AOL at the moment to verify, but I believe you can open an email and say "Save As" and it will save the email in an HTML format that can be read by any web browser.
If it MUST be plain text, as opposed to HTML which is readable by any web browser, you can do that by highlighting the email, copy and paste into Word, Notepad or some such text program. If you need it done in bulk, that's going to be a problem, but would work for just a few emails.
