This is a strange, intermittent (but becoming more frequent as time goes on) problem I've been having just over the last two weeks.
Using both IE and Firefox, I can only access secure websites. I can ping nonsecure websites using the DOS command line, but neither browser will load the nonsecure pages. However, I *can* access nonsecure sites if I log onto AOL and use their browser. We also play World of Warcraft and have no problems.
I use a Sprint data card and a router which allows four PC's to access the internet. Two are Vista, two are XP. They all have different Virus protection software. All four have the same problem.
I have taken the card out of the router and connected it directly to a laptop and I still have the same problem. I have turned off the firewall and it still happens. Sprint has had me manually reprogram the card and the problem persists. They have basically told me "It's a Windows problem" and have given up.
I am desperate. At first, this would only occur for a few minutes at a time, and then access would be restored. It still happens randomly, but now I'm pretty much stuck using AOL to surf the internet.
I've seen a few similar questions asked, but no real solution has been found. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
