Firefox fails to load pages over time

After a period of using Firefox, it becomes unresponsive. It doesn't crash or totally freeze, but it does not load bookmarks, webpage links or a typed in new urls. I can still reload the current page or go back in my surfing history. The only solution that I've found is to close down Firefox and reopen. Though if I look at Task Manager there is a second Firefox process running. It is then back to normal for a time before it happens again.  It works better if I stop the process(es) in Task Manager and then restart Firefox.

I run the Comodo Firewall Pro, Grisoft AVG Free 7.5, PCTools Threatfire and Spyware Doctor and Windows Defender. I tried it with and without extensions, same problem.Start Free Trial
