Why does my installation of Mozilla Firefox 3.0 have really slow web page lookups?

I just installed Firefox 3.0 on Windows XP as an upgrade to the previous version.  The problem that I am having is that I am having very slow DNS lookups.  It seems to be intermittent and inconsistent.   The only add-ons I have installed are the eBay sidebar which is not running and an add-on called "reload every" which automatically reloads a page after a certain amount of time.  Reload Every does not run unless activated.  I have also tried disabling IPv6 and completely removing and re-installing the program.  Internet explorer is not having this problem so I am pretty sure it is FireFox.  Any help is appreciated.
