Browse All TopicsHow do I install firefox 3 in CentOS after I've downloaded the tar file and extracted it? I can't seem to figure it out. I tried using yum instead, but couldn't get any recognizable package names. Help along either avenue would be appreciated.

Usually a tar file means that the item is in raw form. Prior to installing you have to compile the application. pm2html/se arch.php?q uery=firef ox
You have to uncompress and untar what you downloaded.
Then look at readme and install for instructions.
Or look for a firefox RPM:
