Firefox 3.5.3 Crashes after upgrading

I was running Firefox 3.0 without incident until it upgrade to 3.5.3.  Now it won't even start.  I get the crash window every time.  I tried starting in FF safe mode and get the same.  Tried creating new profile, same.  Tried complete uninstall including removing all entries in the registry and then reinstall, same result.  I even tried complete uninstall and reinstall of 3.0 version but get the same crash error.  
Crash report says: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
I am running windows XP SP3   w/ AVG

Thanks, but I did all that.  I can't start Firefox so I can't use any of those functions.  Also I can not start in Safe Mode so that won't work.  Tried creating new profiles,- no luck.  Did complete un-install including personal files and any registry entries then restart and new install of both 3.5.3 and 3.0.14 - same crash.

If you can't even do a fresh install of Firefox with a new profile without a crash, you system is hosed.  A legitimate copy of Firefox won't do that to a sound system.

Does IE work?
Any other Browser?

Are there any Errors or Warnings in your Event viewer that might help us pinpoint the problem? Look under the Program Applications and the System logs.

Found out problem with a theft ID protection software I am using is not compatible with the upgraded Firefox browser.

I'd be curious as to the name of the software that's buggy.  Are they working on fixing it?
